VU University has appointed three new University Research Chair (URC) professors. Danielle Posthuma has been appointed URC professor of genetic risk differentiation in populations at VU Medical Centre.
As per September Philipp Koellinger and his group join the Complex Trait Genetics section of the Center of Neurogenomics and Cognitive Research. Philipp Koellinger did both his Master and PhD summa cum laude in economics at the Humboldt University Berlin, Germany. He subsequently was appointed at the Erasmus University Rotterdam, and the University of Amsterdam before he moved to the VU University where his Chair is ‘Genoeconomics’. His research has been awarded with several prestigious grants, most recently with an ERC Consolidator grant.
The study analyzed the results from 2,748 studies, containing nearly 18,000 human traits, and is based on information from more than 14.5 million twin pairs. The study is published on May 18, in the leading journal Nature Genetics.

Research from the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium, which includes researchers from CTGlab, has found that common psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and major depression share genetic risk factors related to immune function and DNA regulation.
